School is back session which means a deluge of first day of school photos on your timeline, entirely too much traffic and an inordinate amount of money spent on school supplies. While so much attention is paid to K-12 students’ educational journey, we thought we’d show a little love, and give a few helpful tips, to the college crowd.

Recently, I had the opportunity to participate in meetings for Cohort 5 of the Emerging Education Policy Scholars program. During the meetings, one of the things we discussed was the new Every Student Succeeds Act—which is the latest incarnation of the Title I, the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. ESEA was first passed in 1968 as a part of President Johnson’s War on Poverty. Replacing No Child Left Behind, ESSA now devolves school accountability down to the states. One of the new requirements is that states choose a non-test score indicator that is correlated with test scores (yes, you read that right) as one of their accountability metrics.

Usually we don’t do this, but since it’s a special occasion, we just had to: “Happy Anniversary to Us!” The month of April marks the Three Year Anniversary of Diplomatic Enterprises, LLC and what a 3 years it has been. It’s hard to believe that it’s been three years since we first opened our doors and hung our shingle in a quest to deliver exceptional consulting and management services to the world. However, what’s not hard to believe is that as a byproduct of the faith and fortitude of our entire team, we’re still here and going strong.

I’m sure everyone reading this entry is familiar with one, Aubrey Graham a.k.a. October’s Very Own, a.k.a. Drake. However, what some of you may not know is that his stage name, Drake, also doubles as an acronym which stands for: Do Right and Kill Everything. You can thank us later for the trivia fact.
